In 2013, our founders Terry Tong and Gary Chin flew to the Philippines to source pili nuts for another project. They ended up somewhere else entirely.
A group of local beekeepers kept hives built differently from anything either founder had seen before. The bees inside were stingless. Their honey tasted like nothing back home, sweet and sour at once.
Anaya launched in 2015, built around Trigona, that stingless bee honey and its propolis.
The leather care range grew out of the honey range, not a separate idea. We started experimenting with beeswax from Trigona, and Leather Care became the first product in what turned into our anti mould leather care line.
On paper the two ranges look unrelated. They are not. Both come from one idea: prevent the damage, skip the repair. The honey and propolis are gentle enough to go into you or your child. The leather care is gentle enough to sit in a closed wardrobe in Singapore humidity without adding one more toxin to worry about.
Anaya is part of GTCL, a Singapore wellness and lifestyle company. Today we work with retail and wholesale partners in Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
